Funny Joke for the Middle of the Week

A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak. After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done.

The monsignor replied, 'When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip.'

So next Sunday he took the monsignor's advice. At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink. He proceeded to talk up a storm.

Upon his return to his office after the mass, he found the following note on the door:

1) Sip the vodka, don't gulp.
2) There are 10 commandments, not 12.
3) There are 12 disciples, not 10..
4) Jesus was consecrated, not constipated.
5) Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass.
6) We do not refer to Jesus Christ as the late J.C.
7) The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not referred to as Daddy, Junior and the spook.
8) David slew Goliath; he did not kick the s*** out of him.
9) When David was hit by a rock and was knocked off his donkey, don't say he was stoned off his ass.
10) We do not refer to the cross as the 'Big T.'
11) When Jesus broke the bread at the last supper he said, 'Take this and eat it for this is my body.' He did not say 'Eat me'.
12) The Virgin Mary is not called 'Mary with the Cherry'.
13) The recommended grace before a meal is not: Rub-A-Dub-Dub thanks for the grub, Yeah God.
14) Next Sunday there will be a taffy pulling contest at St. Peter's not a peter pulling contest at St. Taffy's..

Happy Sergio Rangel Day!!

Happy Sergio Rangel Day!!
Today, in Aransas Pass, TX (Sergio's hometown) it is Sergio Rangel Day. On July 13, 2003, after his first tour in Iraq, there was a party held in Sergio's honor. The mayor of the town showed up to the party and declared the day Sergio Rangel Day. Each soldier to serve and come home from Iraq was granted their own day, but Serg had the first!
He definitely deserves it! I'm so proud of him!!

On Sunday, I hosted a surprise graduation party for my sister. We waited to have it this late so my brother could attend. She was totally surprised and had no idea what we had been planning. It was a great time to celebrate and see family before the weekend was over!

It was great spending so much time with everyone! We spent a lot of time hanging out by the pool and had a lot of laughs! On July 4th we went and watched fireworks with my cousin and her husband and kids. Overall it was a great weekend!

Product Review:

Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets
I saw a commercial for these a few weeks ago, had a chance to try them yesterday (I got the spring scent and loved it!). Instead of having to buy detergent, fabric softener and static cling sheets separately … and adding them in at different times … this product allows you to use all three at once.

The sheets have concentrated detergent, fabric softener and anti-static formula on this one rather thick sheet. All you have to do is throw it in with your wash and then toss that same sheet into the dryer with your clothes.

The clothes were clean, soft and free of static cling. The whole thing was very simple. No measuring, no adding liquid and no mess. I don't think it costs too much more than buying all three separate products, and it sure beats storing it all, in my tiny laundry room! Also, it will be great any time Serg has to do laundry, whenever that is! :)

Pictures from Meg's trip!

I finally got some pictures of when Megann went to Florida. She had a really great time and overall it was a great experience for her! Here are some pictures of when she got to swim with the dolphins!

Happy Fourth of July

Got this in an email from Glenn Beck. It's a really great read!!

Hello America,

Here it is, another Fourth of July. Traditionally, this is a day to gather with friends, maybe fire up the barbeque and play with kids until the sun sets and the fireworks start. But in thinking back on the meaning behind this day, we must never forget that our nation was baptized in the blaze of a very different kind of "fireworks." Yes, this is a day of rest and relaxation, as well it should be, but this year…I'd like to ask you a favor. At some point during the day, I hope you'll take time to think and reflect on what it is we're truly celebrating on the 4th of July -- our Independence Day. Of course the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th, 1776 but it's so much more than that. On this day, 233 short years ago, a small group of men dedicated themselves to a higher purpose, an ideal they believed in so greatly, they signed their name to its expression and in doing so put their very lives at risk.

Never has a simple act of signing one's name carried such weight, such a profound commitment. By signing the Declaration of Independence, 56 men stood in direct defiance of the British government. They became marked men, and willingly so. As I was doing some research on the significance of July 4th, I came across some interesting facts about these men. Today as we all enjoy the freedom our forefathers guaranteed us, join me in honoring the extraordinary sacrifice of 56 extraordinary Americans.

Of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence:

Five were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes burned to the ground. Two lost sons serving in the Revolutionary Army, and two more had sons captured. Nine fought and died in the Revolutionary War.

If you ever feel like your lone voice can never be heard, that the political system isn't set up for "regular" Americans to change the course of history, remember: The signers were flesh and blood, mortal men with a divinely-inspired aim.

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists, eleven were merchants, and nine were farmers and large plantation owners. They were well educated, smart enough to know that by signing the Declaration of Independence, they were signing their own death warrants. They did it anyway, and God bless them for it.

As we enjoy our liberty on this 4th of July, or any day of any month, we must never take that liberty for granted. Too many have given too much. In the words of the Signers themselves, "For the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor."

Their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor -- I think that's a price paid worth a few minutes of reflection, don't you? But let's not be solemn in that reflection. I say rejoice and share this information with your friends and family, especially your kids. The Signers asked for nothing in return for their pledge, but I say that we show our thanks with a pledge of our own: To remember, to be grateful, and to carry on in their spirit. America is the greatest country this world has ever and will ever know, and it will stay that way so long as "we the people" remember that just like in 1776.

It's US that surrounds them, and we'll never back down.

Happy Independence Day, and God bless America.

Glenn

Serg made the ALL STAR TEAM!!!

Serg was selected by his team to represent them in their All-Star game. Here is what they coach wrote about him on their team site.

Sergio Rangel comes in #1 in the All-Star voting and for good reason. Leading the 2009 Knights in Batting Average, Hits, Runs, RBIs, and tied for stolen bases -- he has has been a production monster on offense. After 11 games played and the most plate appearances on the team, he holds an awesome .479 batting average! With an uncanny ability to 'make things happen' and unmatched effort with a risk-taking attitude, he has proved to be the team MVP at this point in the season. On defense, he not-only holds down a solid short stop, but has stepped up to pitch for the Knights this year. Sergio coined the Knight slogan "Hold the Rope" and it is clear that he is walking the walk this season

The game will be played on Saturday, June 11 at 2:00pm at the intersection of Minnieville and Spriggs. It's a huge honor for him to play! Join us if you can!

Also selected to represent the Nova Knights was Ron Baker(P). Good luck guys!
